Nicole Ari Parker is an American film TV and stage actor known for her performance as the spirited attorney Teri Joseph on the Showtime series Soul Food. After her marriage she became Nikki Kodjoe. Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an aptitude for acting in her when she was a child and won an award for the best Actress prize at the Maryland high-school competition. In the years following her work in theater, as well as 'The Washington Ballet Company' she earned a certificate in acting from New York University. Contractor, who had completed her university degree, went on to audition at an open call for Pericles which was held at the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canadain Canada] and was selected for the role. After 92 performances, she received praise from the audience. The production was recognized as one of the most successful productions by Canadian critics. The actress accepted an invitation to join Stratford's conservatory, a program where only four men and eight females can attend an intensive 20-week program in classical theatre.
